Guy's Pool is Cann Bridge School's on-site warm water pool, providing a specialist environment that supports the health, wellbeing, and development of learners across the school. The original construction of the pool was made possible through extensive fundraising, charitable donations, and the dedicated support of the Friends of Cann Bridge School. In 2024, the facility underwent a full refurbishment thanks to further charitable contributions and funding from Plymouth City Council, ensuring that it continues to meet the needs of our pupils for years to come.
The pool is timetabled throughout the week and is in daily use. While many of our Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils use the pool to develop water confidence, swimming skills, and enjoyment in the water, its primary purpose is to support learners across the school with a range of needs.
The warm water environment provides valuable opportunities for physiotherapy, physical development, sensory regulation, and engagement. For some pupils, the pool offers a calming and therapeutic experience that supports wellbeing and sensory processing, while for others it provides opportunities to develop movement, mobility, confidence, communication, and independence in a unique and motivating setting.
Guy's Pool is an important part of our specialist provision and plays a significant role in helping pupils access personalised learning and therapeutic experiences that support their individual development and overall quality of life.
